Do you have a recent backup of your important data...
some time back, I saw a news item where a research couple from Oklahoma lost their laptop containing invaluable research data collected over many years related to prostrate cancer. The research couple offered a reward of USD 1000 for any one to get back their laptop. Unfortunately the laptop data was not backed up and hence the increased seriousness.
This incident highlights the importance of having a proper and regular backup of your data. This applies to anyone whether you are in business or research or any other work.
During the earlier days, taking backup was slightly more difficult requiring external drives needing more time and resources. However with the availability of remote backup software, taking back up is not only easy, it is very convenient also.
With remote backup, it is possible to take backup in the background, the data can be sent to an external location and incremental mode can be adopted there by greatly reducing the backup time and cost. Above all, the data can be encrypted providing utmost security and safety of the data being backed up.
